WHAT ARE BED TRUCKS AND TEXAS BEDS?
A Bed Truck is a large truck with a flat deck, has 1 or 2 winches mounted behind the cab, a full width live roll at the back of the truck and may also have Gin Poles. They are used primarily in the Oilfield, without a trailer, to move and spot heavy items such as rig buildings, rig matting, camp shacks and other miscellaneous oilfield equipment; on-site where space is limited, or ground conditions limit access with a truck and trailer.
Texas Beds combine a smaller Bed Truck and a Winch Tractor. The Texas Bed can raise and lower the live roll at the back of the truck, converting it from a Winch Tractor that can pull a trailer to a small Bed Truck when you need to lay over a 400bbl tank or spot something in a tight area. While it may not spot heavy loads like a Bed Truck, it can legally haul them down the highway, whereas a Bed Truck cannot.
